Hi!
I am investigating the possibility of using Camtasia Studio to produce a series of WebCasts. As I understand this, I can use your module to play such a webcast. What may seem as a silly question is how to integrate this in may website. I am using Ventrian’s article module and want to incorporate webcast directly into the article module. Can this be done?

Hi,

thank you for the feedback.

The answer is yes. We are working on it right now. I'm not sure when the first version will be available. Maybe in a month or so.

Thanks!

Good news!
Hopefully you will create an solution where by webcasts are public and for members, so that the functionality in the Article module is maintained.
A functionality that may be nice is to store the webcast in SQL Server with an unique name. This simplifies backup. I do not know if this is possible, it may time out….

Sure, we will incorporate video player in the Ventrian's NewsArticle module taking account of usual NewsArticles functionality.

I don't think we will implement storing media files to the SQL Server database. It is against usual practices and DNN architecture.

Thanks!

I do not agree all together, on the usual practice. If we look at your forum module, it has got options to save loaded files to the SQL Server database with a unique name. I am using this functionality due to simplification. It does not clutter the web server. When it comes to the Article Module, all pictures are stored on the web server, not in the SQL Server. I read the risen for this sometime a go but has forgotten it. For those that have not got the bandwidth it should be possible to use a link for a server with higher bandwidth as an option.
Will the module support menus on the left side? That’s nice when presenting procedure like webcast.
Will it be possible to set a parameter for a popup window for the video or will it play inside the article module?

It would be nice if the user could chose? Right click the video and get some options?

Well, I do not agree with your disagreement
The fact one module is using SQL Server as a document storage does not mean it is usual or best practice. It's an exception rather than standard. Usual is something what is majority doing and it is often closer to some standards (but not necessary). This also does not mean usual or standard solutions are better than "custom" by default.

We are not creating a new module in this case, we will just incorporate the media player functionality into an existing 3rd party module, taking account on DNN and NewsArticles architecture. It will support standard JW Media Player functionalities including full screen view and it will play inside the article.

P.S. Forum post editing is currently disabled.

Thanks!

Hi
Im also interested in using the module, special mp3 solution togheter with Ventrian property agent so we coult bild a media solution. Will this be possible? Im thinking that it would be great to have the possiblity to use your module to play a mediafile when the property agent show a special record.
